Barbie girl from Espritpatch

And not just any Barbie, a pregnant one too!

My brief was to make an outfit that would show the pregnancy. Not my usual dressmaking!

I started by looking for patterns but quickly decided that I wouldn't anything suitable so I settled on a pair of wide large trousers and a top, long at the back and cropped at the front.

I tried both pieces with some scrap fabric I had at home and cut off the pieces that needed to come off, particularly on the trousers. Once all fitted I was able to unpick and use the pieces ...

I am Blandine from Espritpatch

I have lost my trusted Lark Tee pattern that I have been using to make nightdresses. Sadly I have searched for it through my sewing room twice but I haven't managed to find it. Anyway I guess it will resurface one day. In the meantime, I decided to try out the free I am Blandine pattern.

It is not a difficult sew with just 4 pieces... I had cut it and nearly finished it last month but my overlocker started to play up so I left it aside... until a few days ago. I started out by fixing the ...

More pouches from Espritpatch

All the pouches are finished and gifted now! I made another 7, all with the same fabric at the top and cream zips.

I changed the colour of the faux leather at the bottom

and also the lining fabric depending on the topic of the teachers.

And of course I added a cute little label

I don't have a picture with the 7+3 pouches together, I finished them in batches as they were needed! Nothing like a deadline to get going...

Happy to have managed to make as many (well one extra) as the girls wanted to gift ...

Pencil case from Espritpatch

A different one, with a pencil case for a male teacher. I had made a similar one a few years back so I used the same technique more or less.

The corners are not as boxed up so the pencil case is quite flat.

I used a scooter fabric for the inside.

Finished and ready to be gifted tomorrow.

Open Wide Pouch from Espritpatch

It is the time of year again and as usual, I have left it quite late... although the 2 first presents which will be gifted tomorrow are already wrapped and ready to go and a third one is also finished! The end of the school year is fast approaching so it is high time I finally make the presents. Once again I have opted for the tried and trusted Open Wide Pouch pattern by Noodle Head, I am not sure how many I have made through the years but quite a few. This year I decided to make the smallest ...

Drop Sleeve Blouse from Espritpatch

It seems that I hadn't made a garment for quite a while... The SewAprilBlouse24 challenge on IG was just what I needed to get going. And although I had planned/hoped to make 2 blouses, I finally completed one that I had cut earlier this month.

I found a lovely black broderie anglaise that I have had in my stash for quite a long while and settled on the Drop sleeve top pattern by the Avid Seamstress, which is a free pattern on their website.

The top comes together rather easily and quickly and the instructions are clear enough ...

Tote bag from Espritpatch

Nothing better than a tight deadline to focus my attention! I bought a panel to make a birthday present for my friend a few months ago and of course it had sat there since. Well her birthday was on Sunday and she invited us for a meal so I knew I had to finish my gift by then. I was originally planning to make a pouch but the panel was rather large at 17''+ so I decided a tote bag would be more appropriate.

First step was to pick a complementary faux leather for the back of the bag as ...

Bag from Espritpatch

Back in October I bought a faux leather panel and some fabric to make a tote bag to each of my two daughters... for Christmas. Well let's say that everything was stashed away and nothing happened before Christmas. I then set my deadline as their birthday and again, I missed the target for the first one. But the difference there was that I had at least just started it before my daughter's birthday. I decided to use the Emma Tote Bag pattern by Bara-Studio for her bag since it is quite big and I needed to take into ...

Reusable kitchen towels from Espritpatch

I had bought some panels last year to make some reusable kitchen towels and some make up remover pads with the idea to gift some for Christmas. Well, that never happened as I didn't get around to do anything with the panels.

Finally last week I cut all the squares out of the panels, there were 6 per panels on 2 panels. I also cut the backing squares out of wafle fabric I had bought at a local fair in October.

I only had enough wafle fabric for 8 kitchen towels in the end so I finished those 8 ...

Binky panties from Espritpatch

Another finish this week-end! I've had this pattern, the Binky panties for over 5 years and I hadn't tried it yet, I don't think. There are quite a few variations, I initially thought about trying a mace overlay on the front but finally abandoned the idea because 1) I wasn't sure to have stretch lace in my stash in the correct colour and 2) I figured out the lace wouldn't quite work with the wide elastic for the waist.

Assembly is rather straight forward and well explained in the pattern. All I had left to ...

Keyring from Espritpatch

Another project I had started in January and hoped to finish before Christmas... While cutting all the pillow card holders with my cricut, I cut out a keyring for hubby and got some fusible vinyl out to add a little Star Trek symbol.

It didn't take long really and all that was needed was to find a ring and thread my machine with the correct colour to sew along the sides.

Well that didn't happen before Christmas but it is finally finished and gifted!

Finished set from Espritpatch

I had cut the set in November and was hoping to finish it promptly, once I would have received the elastics but my order arrived and everything sat there, waiting to be picked up. I ordered some glitter boxer elastic for the waistband and the bra band, which is really pretty, might need to order myself some! And some cavaliere elastic, which is like a bias binding with the fabric held between the 2 "layers" of elastic and of course some strap elastic too.

I wanted to try a bralette for my daughter and found the Tami pattern by Eclipse ...
